Management

More than 70 percent of Spokane’s workforce is employed in the fields of business, health care and marketing. These fields demand well-trained, entry-level managers and supervisors. You can prepare to fill that need with a management degree.

In this program, you learn the fundamentals of business management, while gaining hands-on experience in the profession. Courses cover topics in business law, project management, accounting, computer applications and human relations.

Detailed Information

All students graduating from the AAS degree program must have a minimum grade average of 2.0 on each of the required management, accounting, economic and business courses and a cumulative minimum grade point average on all required courses in the program.

Associate in Business DTA/MRP degree

We also offer an Associate in Business DTA/MRP degree. This a statewide articulated transfer degree agreement for business majors between the community colleges and most four-year institutions in the state of Washington. A candidate for the Associate in Business degree must complete a minimum of 90 quarter credits in academic courses numbered 100 or above with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and meet specific distribution requirements.

  • Understand the project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing phases of managing projects in a variety of business and industry positions.
  • Through case study analysis, create a project plan and schedule; allocate and manage project resources and costs; manage human resources and communications; monitor, control and modify projects; produce project reports; and perform close-out project evaluations.
  • Understand and develop leadership and teambuilding skills as they pertain to project management and day-to-day business operations.
  • Utilize information technology and computer applications as tools to manage and control project tasks, communication, costs, scheduling, and quality.
  • Increase job skills for entry-level employment as well as career advancement.

This certificate program will prepare students to understand the concepts and methods associated with project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing phases of project management.  Students will utilize computer applications to manage and control project tasks, communication, costs, scheduling, and quality. 

In conjunction with Project Management, this certificate program will also provide students with real-world Lean Six Sigma training. Students will lead a Lean Six Sigma event focused on a process improvement methodology that combines the benefits of both Lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma to help companies streamline operations, increase value, and reduce waste. Students will engage in leadership and teambuilding development so vital for successful project management in the workplace. Students can expect to increase job skills for entry-level employment as well as career advancement. Courses in this program can be applied to the AAS degree in Management.
